Mural, Mural on the Wall

The fifth instalment of the Vancouver Mural Festival is underway, as local artists once again take to the streets to add new colour to the alleys and avenues around the city. The festival organizers are expanding this year’s lineup to include 60 new murals, up from 25 in 2019. The festival will also push its borders beyond its traditional Mt. Pleasant / False Creek Flats / Strahcona neighbourhoods. With more murals and more artists, the length of this year’s Vancouver Mural Festival has been increased to three weeks.

Due to travel restrictions, the majority of this year’s muralists will be locally sourced. Look for past heroes Carson Ting, JNasty and  Carrielynn Victor, as well fresh faces like tabouli, Pearl Low and Fernanda Ribeiro.

New neighbourhoods include Downtown, Marpole, the River District and the West End.

With a wider area of active projects, art lovers are encouraged to view this years collection by bicycle. So leave the car at home and come explore the back alleyways of VanCity by bike.
